Mechanical seals are one of the effective ways to seal the body of rotating machinery. The accuracy of processing itself is relatively high, especially for dynamic and static rings. If the disassembly and assembly methods are not suitable or used improperly, the mechanical seal after assembly will not only achieve the purpose of sealing And will damage the assembled sealing elements.

 

When disassembling the mechanical seal, it is strictly forbidden to use a hand hammer and a spatula to avoid damage to the sealing elements. If there are mechanical seals on both ends of the pump, care must be taken during disassembly to avoid losing sight of each other.
 
For mechanical seals that have worked, if the sealing surface moves when the gland is loose, the dynamic and static ring parts should be replaced, and it should not be tightened and continued to be used. Because after loosening, the original running trajectory will change during friction, and the seal of the contact surface will be easily damaged.
 
Before installation, carefully check whether the number of assembly and sealing parts is sufficient, and whether each component is damaged, especially the dynamic and static rings are not damaged, cracked and deformed. If there is a problem, repair or replace it with a new one. Check whether the chamfer of the shaft sleeve or gland is appropriate, if it does not meet the requirements, it must be trimmed.
 
Each component of the mechanical seal and its related assembly contact surfaces must be cleaned with acetone or absolute alcohol before installation. During the installation, keep it clean, especially the dynamic and static rings and auxiliary sealing elements should be free of impurities and dust. Apply a layer of clean engine or turbine oil to the surface of the dynamic and static rings.
 
Tightening the gland should be performed after the coupling is aligned. The bolts should be tightened evenly to prevent the cross section of the gland from deviating. Check the points with a feeler gauge or special tools, and the error should not be greater than 0.05 mm. Check the clearance (and concentricity) between the gland and the outer diameter of the shaft or sleeve, and ensure that the circumference is uniform. Check the tolerance of each point with a feeler gauge not more than 0.10 mm.
 
The compression amount of the spring should be carried out in accordance with regulations. It is not allowed to be too large or too small. The error is required to be ± 2.00 mm. If it is too large, it will increase the specific pressure of the section and accelerate the wear of the section. If it is too small, the specific pressure will be insufficient to play a sealing role. After the spring is installed, it must move flexibly in the spring seat. When using a single spring, pay attention to the rotation direction of the spring. The rotation direction of the spring should be opposite to the rotation direction of the shaft. After the moving ring is installed, it must be kept flexible. After pressing the moving ring toward the spring, it should spring back automatically.
 
Put the static ring sealing ring on the back of the static ring before putting it into the sealing end cap. Pay attention to protect the static ring section, ensure the verticality of the static ring section and the end cap centerline, and align the anti-rotation groove on the back of the static ring with the anti-rotation pin, but do not make them contact each other.
 
During the installation process, it is not allowed to directly strike the sealing element with a tool. When it is necessary to strike, the special tool must be used to prevent the sealing element from being damaged. All in all, the professional disassembly and installation team of mechanical equipment can ensure the safe use and maintenance of the equipment.
 
Where are the difficulties in handling precision equipment?
: The installation location of precision equipment determines the difficulty of handling. Precision equipment, especially testing equipment, instruments and equipment generally need to be installed in the office building instead of the factory.
